A significant part of marketing in this day and age is social media. Individuals, small businesses, huge corporations, and even government organizations use social media!
Our first priority for setting up a social presence for small business is Facebook. Many small business owners don’t think their target audience is on Facebook and see it as a waste of time. Don’t be fooled into this type of thinking! It is well proven that the majority of American adults use Facebook, and these users include many age groups, education, and income levels. Facebook is not just for young people, and many young people actually use different social networks. Studies have shown that at least 71% of adults use Facebook! Facebook is also still growing consistently, despite new social media networks entering the scene.
Whats another reason to use Facebook you ask? Have you ever searched for your own business name on Google? Chances are, if you have a Facebook page, it will show up in the top 5 results. (Go ahead and try it!) This is another compelling reason to use Facebook. When people look for you online, they will use Facebook as part of their research. Posting interesting content, great photos, links to your website, and promoting specials are all ways to pull these users in even more. Through your Facebook page, they’ll get to see what an experience with you might be like, and if you’re posting the right things, they won’t want to miss it!
These are just two advantages of using Facebook – but there are many more! For example, you can keep in touch with past guests, tag them in photos, receive messages from Facebook users, and more. In our next post, we’ll be sharing some of the basics of Facebook marketing for small businesses. Stay tuned!
